Egg Pavement

Details

To offer a retreat from the sun on a warm day, this granite pavement was sited under an ancient Magnolia. It is egg shaped to reference a nearby chicken barn that has been in continual use for over 150 years – a point of pride for the client, so an obvious choice for the overall shape of the space. Large slabs of granite were purposely broken up and then used for the pavement to make it look like a “cracked egg”.
